The Fit Fab Mom Holiday Guide 15+ Best Stocking Stuffer Card Games
Welcome to the grand finale of our holiday game guide!

The Best Gifts Come in Small Packages
Welcome to the grand finale of our holiday game guide! We’ve covered the best games for little players (ages 3-6) and the top picks for big kids and families (ages 6+).
Now, let’s talk about my secret weapon: the “stocking stuffer” game.
These are the small-box card games that I throw in my purse for restaurants, pack for vacations, or pull out for a quick 15-minute round of fun before dinner. They are a fantastic way to build your game collection without needing a whole new closet.
In our house, card games are a daily event. Here are our family’s absolute favorites—the ones that get played over and over.
Our Family’s “Must-Have” Card Games
These are our go-to games. They’re fast, fun, and packed with strategy and laughs.
6 Nimmt! (Take 6!)
This game is pure, chaotic fun. The goal is to not pick up cards. You all play a card at the same time and try to place it on a row without being the 6th card, which forces you to take the whole row. It’s loud, plays up to 10 people, and is a blast.

Wizard
If your family grew up on Hearts or Spades, this is your next obsession. It’s a “trick-taking” game, but with a twist: you have to bid at the start of each round on exactly how many tricks you’ll win. It’s so addictive and a real brain-burner. Check it out here on Amazon!
Our Fave: Ratuki
This is a fast-paced, “slap-it” style card game that feels like competitive, multi-player solitaire. Everyone is building their own piles from 1 to 5, and you can play on anyone’s pile at any time. It’s a “must-have” for us. > My Mom Hack: My 6-year-old can’t read in English yet, so to play with her, I just pull out the “Ratuki” word cards and we play with the numbers only. It works perfectly!
Our Fave: Cortex Challenge
We love this one! It’s not just cards; it’s a “brain-burner” with 8 different types of challenges that test memory, logic, touch, and more. It’s a great way to get kids thinking in different ways. There are a bunch of different versions as well.

These are some of the most popular and “giggle-inducing” card games on the market. They’re all quick to learn and perfect for a party.
Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza
Be prepared to laugh. This is a silly, fast-paced “slap-it” game (a bit like Spoons or Slap Jack). You chant the words as you lay down cards, and when the card matches the word, the last person to slap the pile has to take it. My kids find it hilarious. Even my 3 year old gets in on this (we make sure to let her win a few rounds to keep her happy). It makes for a great party game.
Exploding Kittens
This is a massive hit for a reason. It’s basically a “Russian Roulette” style card game where you’re all trying to avoid drawing the one “Exploding Kitten” card that gets you kicked out. It’s silly, suspenseful, and games are super quick.
Spot It!
An absolute classic for all ages. It’s a simple “search and find” game that comes in a small tin. Each card has a set of symbols, and any two cards will always have one matching symbol. It’s a race to see who can find it first. The best part? Adults have zero advantage.
We bring one in our rainy day camping supplies, one at home and one in my purse in case the kids get bored at a restaurant or visit somewhere. It's a very small game but packed with so much fun.- Get it here

Sushi Go!
A fast and adorable “card-drafting” game. You “pick and pass” cards from your hand to build a winning sushi meal. You can play a whole round in 15 minutes, and it’s a perfect, gentle introduction to a “drafting”-style game.
Cockroach Poker
This is a hilarious bluffing game where you’re just trying to not be the one loser. You pass cards to other players face-down, telling them what it is… but you could be lying. It’s all about reading your friends and family!
The “Just a Deck of Cards” All-Stars
Never underestimate the power of a single, 52-card deck. We always have one in our bag.
Our Go-To: 7 Up (or “Trash”) This is our absolute favorite “first” card game. We call it “7 Up” and play a simple 7-card version that’s perfect for teaching number recognition and turn-taking to my 3-year-old. It’s also known as “Trash” or “Garbage” and can be played with 10 cards (and wild Jacks!) for older kids. It’s a fantastic, all-in-one family game. Read our full guide on How to Play Both Versions Here!
The Classics: You can’t go wrong. Go Fish, War, Spoons, and Crazy Eights are classics because they work. They teach the fundamentals of gaming and are always a good time.
Board games are more than just a gift; they’re an invitation to connect. I hope this 3-part series helps you find the perfect game to get your family laughing and playing together this holiday season!
What are your favorite small-box card games? Let me know in the comments—I’m always looking to add to our collection!
